Our Purpose - What drives us
We share this place, which we ourselves enjoy, for experiences and encounters. STORY is a place that inspires people, enriches their experiences, and makes them happy.
In uncertain times such as these, new approaches are needed. This, in turn, offers opportunities for regions like ours. A new perspective on people's needs is required: the desire for connection and community is increasing. The new basic need is called resonance. This encompasses the desire for experiences that are directly related to people and things that leave a lasting impression even after the trip is over. Travel is becoming a new value for personal development.
STORY is a space for resonance in Thusis, in the Viamala region - in the heart of the Grisons mountains.
The following values guide us in our actions: People at the center, regionally & locally connected, authentic, grateful, open and simple. Respect and life balance, quality, love of nature and sustainability.
We are organized based on self-organized principles and a role model, and put the team before the individual. Together we learn daily. We believe that everyone in the team can and wants to act independently and intuitively contributes the best to the whole.

History – Where We Come From
STORY Thusis Sportwerkstatt developed based on the Viamala Sportwerkstatt .
Since fall 2023, you can work, stop for a bite to eat, sleep, or simply relax here at the entrance to the Viamala Gorge in Thusis, Graubünden. The Sportwerkstatt also offers Sportwerkstatt and everything a biker's heart desires. The Sportwerkstatt now essentially the first bike and snow sports shop with its own coworking space, lodge, and lounge.
In 2011, Matthias, Johannes, and Martin founded Viamala Sportwerkstatt with the intention of becoming the hub for mountain biking experiences in the Viamala region. Thanks to countless support from friends and family and various mountain biking events, the family business has long since grown up.
Now, this is an area of STORY Thusis, a place of resonance where leisure and work merge and guests meet locals. To this end, the 6 owners Flurina, Franziska, Annina, Matthias, Johannes & Martin founded the company Viamalastorys.ch AG in February 2021.
Our responsibility towards our planet
Based on our values, we want to contribute to an attractive tomorrow.
We will discuss a few of these contributions here. We are guided by the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) of the UN's 2030 Agenda, to which we as a society have committed ourselves. This also applies to Switzerland, as explained in a video on the website of the Swiss Confederation. You can find a detailed overview of our contributions here.
We have always tried to incorporate sustainability and regionality into our planning and construction phase. Whenever possible, we rely on local entrepreneurs and service providers.
STORY is intended to contribute to the attractiveness and added value of the region in and around Thusis. Our products in the lounge are carefully selected, locally produced wherever possible and delivered via short routes. We always try to develop ourselves further and follow the idea of a regenerative economy and a circular economy.
We consciously enter into partnerships and network. STORY offers a platform for local & regional service providers and brings people together to walk common paths. Coworking is another contribution to shortening long commutes and enabling exchange across company boundaries.
With Coworkations, the region, the culture and the nature are brought closer to the guests and teams and a valuable relationship to it is created, which should help to create awareness and concern for our environment and our planet.
