Our purpose - what drives us
This place where we like to be ourselves, we share experiences and encounters. STORY is a place that inspires people, makes them richer in experience and satisfied.
In today's world, the framework conditions are constantly changing and we will be increasingly challenged in the future. The ability to plan is dwindling and new approaches are required. This in turn offers opportunities for regions like ours. We need to take a new look at people's needs: the longing for connection and community is growing. The new basic need is called resonance. This includes the desire to experience direct contact with people and things, which leaves a lasting impression even after the trip. Travel is becoming a new value for the personal development biography.
The STORY is a resonance room in Thusis, in the Viamala region - in the middle of the mountains of Graubünden.
The following values guide us in everything we do: People at the center, regionally & locally connected, authentic, grateful, openness and simplicity. Respect and life balance, quality, closeness to nature and sustainability.
We are organized based on self-organized principles and a role model and put the team before the individual. We learn together every day. We believe that everyone in the team can and wants to act independently and intuitively contributes the best to the whole.

History - Where we come from
Aufbauend auf der Viamala Sportwerkstatt ist die STORY Thusis entstanden.
Hier kannst du seit Herbst 2023, Eingangs der Viamala-Schlucht in Thusis GR, arbeiten, einkehren, schlafen oder einfach nur sein. Weiterhin werden unter der Sportwerkstatt Mountainbike-Erlebnisse und alles was das Biker-Herz begehrt, angeboten. Die Sportwerkstatt ist nun quasi das erste Bike- & Schneesportgeschäft mit einem eigenem Coworking, einer Lodge und einer Lounge.
2011 gründeten Matthias, Johannes und Martin die Viamala Sportwerkstatt GmbH, mit der Absicht Dreh- und Angelpunkt für Mountainbike-Erlebnisse in der Region Viamala zu werden. Zwischenzeitlich ist das Familienunternehmen, dank unzähliger Unterstützung im Freundes- und Familienkreis und den diversen Events rund um das Thema Mountainbike, längst ausgewachsen.
It is now a part of STORY Thusis, a resonant place where the worlds of leisure and work merge and guests meet locals. To this end, the 6 owners Flurina, Franziska, Annina, Matthias, Johannes & Martin founded the company Viamalastorys.ch AG in February 2021.
Our responsibility towards our planet
Based on our values, we want to make our contribution to an attractive tomorrow.
We will discuss a few of these contributions here. We are guided by the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) of the UN's 2030 Agenda, which we have "committed" to as a society. This includes Switzerland, as explained in a video on the website of the Swiss Confederation. You can find a detailed overview of our contributions here.
Right from the planning and construction phase, we have always tried to incorporate the concept of sustainability and regionality. Whenever possible, we rely on local entrepreneurs and service providers.
The STORY is intended to contribute to the attractiveness and added value of the region in and around Thusis. Our products in the lounge are carefully selected, produced locally wherever possible and delivered over short distances. We are constantly trying to develop further and to follow the ideas of the regenerative economy and the circular economy.
We consciously enter into partnerships and network. STORY offers a platform for local and regional service providers and brings people together to explore common paths. Coworking is a further contribution to shortening long working distances and enabling exchanges to take place across company boundaries.
Coworkations bring the region, culture and nature closer to the guests and teams and create a valuable connection to it, which should help to create awareness and care for our environment and our planet.
